Configure the Modem Server

Make sure that the modem server makes its modems available on a single TCP port number for all modems, as a dial-out modem pool, or a specific TCP port number for individual modems.  These TCP port numbers will be used below.  Connect working outbound telephone lines to the modem(s).

Install the DialOut/EZ Software

Log in as Administrator.
Run the DialOut/EZ setup program.
Use all default choices.
To use the software in 30-day evaluation mode, select Use an Evaluation Key.
If using DialOut/EZ Site Edition, then enter the IP address of the License Manager.
The DialOut/EZ Redirector will begin running.  Windows will not need to be restarted.

Ensure that Firewall Software Permits Connections

The DialOut/EZ setup program will add an exception for DialOut/EZ in the Microsoft Windows Firewall.

If using other firewall software, then manually add exceptions for UDP port 2392 both inbound and outbound, and TCP port 2392 inbound.

If a firewall blocks outbound connections, then also add exceptions for any outbound TCP ports that will be entered under the Port Number field in DialOut/EZ.

Configure the Application

In the application being used, change the modem device that it uses to the new one that was created.

If using an application that must use a COM port directly, then change its COM port setting to the virtual COM port.

The application should now be using the modem on the modem server.
